Assistant Vice President- Private Client Mortgage Banker

Fairly straightforward interview process; My first interview was with the Area Lending Manager to see if I would be a good fit for the Mortgage Advisory team. It was a 30 minute interview which consisted of mostly behavioral questions focused around being a self-starter and working with any supervision. There were a few questions centered around my comfortability around being a strictly commission-based employee. Next interview was with the Regional Lending Manager which was slightly tougher. I had very minimal residential lending experience, but he tested my knowledge of the differences of the 30 year FRM and the adjustable rate mortgages. I was asked about what happened during the mortgage subprime crisis and the differences in the lending market today and in the 2000's. We also role-played a few scenarios in which mock client had a certain rate, payment, and he tested my ability to profile and come to an understanding of what the client was trying to accomplish. Interview with the Regional Lending Manager took about an hour or so. After passing that interview, I then interviewed a final time with the branch manager for about 15-20 minutes to see if I would be a good fit with that team. I liked the Branch Manager, loved the team, and accepted the offer.
