Please describe the interview / hiring process.
A current intern at the company was able to pass on my resume to the hiring manager. A few days before the first interview, I received an email from HR asking what day and time I would prefer a phone interview. It was supposed to last for around 30 minutes, but it was actually a bit shorter than that. A tip I have is to write down some answers to a few common questions. This was my first interview ever and being quite nervous I felt that this helped me in getting through it smoothly. However, one must be careful of sounding like a robot. My interviewer said that they would be in touch next week, but I didn't hear back till around a month later when I was invited to come into a Superday. At the Superday, I had three back to back 30 minute interviews with 3 different employees. All of them ran overtime. They had set questions they were supposed to ask given to them by JP Morgan and then each interviewer had their own questions as well. While answering, it was a little hard to gauge the reaction of the interviewer as they were taking notes, but overall, I liked the in person interview over the phone ones. The interviewers were mostly pretty relaxed and I received no technical questions though I don't know if this is because I am only a sophomore. Each interview ended with me asking a few questions. Another tip I have is to remember to ask the interviewer for their contact info! I had prepared for the Superday by drafting answers to common finance interview questions I found online. I found this extremely helpful in going through the interview smoothly and without any lulls or pauses since I had already done the thinking beforehand. But again, make sure not to memorise the answers, but just have a sort of outline in your head so you don't sound stiff!
