Investment Banking Summer Analyst

Networked with an MD alumnus and developed relationship over course of 18 months. Got exposed to MD's team (all non-alums) which was helpful in giving mock interviews and feedback on all aspects of recruiting. Met with enough bankers that I skipped the first round phone screen and received an invitation to Superday around New Years (Superday was in 10 days of email invitation). Three 1 on 1 interviews, all half hour long, all senior people (VP, ED, MD). First interview was all fit, second was mixed and third was almost purely technical and brainteasers. Overall, everyone was nice and helpful, except for one interviewer who asked particularly pointed questions.

Key to getting the offer here (I think) is to meet a lot of people beforehand so you can cite names of people that you can see yourself working with. Plenty of kids at my Superday seemed like they had more relevant internships (other BB IBs and MM IBs) but got dinged. Attitude accounts for more than half of the decision to hire or not hire you.
