Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied through Proud to Be, and was invited to a superday. Superday was 3 30 min 1-on-1 interviews with MDs, and they were nearly all fit based. I don't know if it's because it was a diversity-based hiring process but I left feeling a bit underwhelmed in terms of difficulty. There weren't any of the stereotypical "power moves" or trick questions asked, and one interviewer even offered me a snack. I had a few basic questions about economics and the fed rates, was asked to give a snapshot summary of the markets today (just to gauge whether I read the WSJ that morning I'm guessing), and was given the basic "why me" questions. Some difficult brain teasers but they were explained clearly. I definitely messed up one really badly, and thought that it would ding me right then and there. Overall I was fine with the interviews not being too technical, but I expected more since I am in a top business school and not a liberal arts program. I also studied like mad for the exam, definitely should have taken it easier and maybe explored NYC a bit before my interview. It may have to do with the fact that I made it clear I want to go into sales--personality matters more there than in most aspects of finance.
I left with contact info for all the recruiters, and found them all to be very pleasant. When I was called to be hired (just over a week later) several of my interviewers called to tell me I was hired and offered me very nice personal praise. I have even maintained semi-regular emails with a few of them as they are on desks that are particularly interesting.
