Associate Mortgage Banker
General Interview Information
Interview Details
Initial phone interview was brief: asked basic profile questions (i.e.name) and then provided instructions to meet at a local retail location for interview. Was not told that the interview would be somewhat of a panel group format.
Arrived to the bank branch, was escorted to a waiting room with other candidates. All together, it was about a 2 hour process, where candidates were interviewed individually by mortgage bankers. If you were "approved" by your interviewer, you would be invited back to participate in another round with a different interviewer. Most candidates, per other candidates in the waiting room, were only invited for 2 rounds of interviewers, and others 3 rounds. I participated in 4 rounds of interviews and was given an "unofficial" offer at the end.
Each of the interviews entailed a one-on-one format, about 20-30 minutes each, and each interviewer had a packet (about 5 pages, double-sided) of numerous behavioral questions, and no technical questions to my knowledge. Not all questions were asked, and interviewers took notes on the corresponding questions:
-strengths / weaknesses
-what does success / failure mean to you
-how important is the client/customer?
-sales experience?
-why Chase?
-how do you handle stress / explain a critical situation that you were able to solve
-etc.
