Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I recently completed the HireVue interview for J.P. Morgan, and I thought I’d share my experience to help others who might be preparing for it.

The process was fairly straightforward and user-friendly, as everything was done online. I had about 5–7 questions, mostly focusing on behavioural and situational scenarios. There was a timer for each question, with 30 seconds to prepare and about 2–3 minutes to respond. The structure was clear, but the time constraints added a bit of pressure, especially when the questions required detailed answers.

What I Liked
Flexibility: The biggest advantage was being able to do the interview at my own convenience. I could choose a time when I felt focused and ready.
Question Variety: The questions covered different areas, like teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership, which gave me a chance to highlight my skills and experiences.
User Interface: The platform was intuitive, and the instructions were easy to follow, so I didn’t have any technical difficulties.
What I Found Challenging
One-Way Format: It felt a bit strange speaking to a camera without any interaction or feedback. This format can feel impersonal, especially if you’re used to live interviews.
Time Pressure: Thirty seconds to think and structure your response isn’t much time, especially for complex questions. A couple of times, I felt rushed and wished I had more time to organise my thoughts.
No Re-Dos: Once you submit your answer, that’s it. If you stumble or forget something, there’s no second chance, which can be stressful.
Overall Thoughts
The J.P. Morgan HireVue interview is a good way to showcase your skills, but it definitely requires preparation. I’d recommend practising common behavioural and situational questions to get comfortable thinking and speaking within the time limits. Also, make sure you’re in a quiet, well-lit space where you won’t be interrupted.

While the process wasn’t perfect, it’s a fair way to assess candidates given the volume of applications J.P. Morgan receives. If you prepare well and stay calm, it’s a manageable step in the application process.
