Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
Applied via company job portal, received an email the next day for a first round interview. Conducted a first round interview mostly covering behavioral questions, and was asked about portfolio companies.
Interview Questions
Tell me about our portfolio companies, which company did you like the best? What are some factors you'd look at if you were making an investment in this company?

Why Los Angeles?

What do you do in your free time?

We saw that you last worked at a venture capital firm, why do you not want to stay in venture?

Why are you interested in growth equity?

What types of deals have you worked on in the past? What industries in particular have you looked at?

Tell me what you saw as the strengths and weaknesses of growth investing?

Skills Test
Interview
I received the interview by networking. I emailed the VP, and he asked for my resume, and the Director reached out to me.
Round 1- Phone interview with Director
Round 2- Phone interview with MD
Round 3- Lunch with junior team
Round 4- 3 day take home case study (2 part case study. Part 1 Investment recommendation with company overview, and financials, but no model expected to be made, and Part 2 was an investment recommendation by looking at a picture)
Round 5- Superday (didn't make) but presenting case study, 1 hour modeling test, and meeting everyone on the team.

I interviewed for the growth fund, and they focus primarily on tech investments, but make some other investments like a furniture company, and even a bandage company. They also focus a bit on their management team of the portfolio company, so they seem a bit entrepreneurial. My case study was metric based, and not entrepreneurial, so maybe I was not a fit, but I do not know for sure.

Questions asked:
1. Tell me about yourself?
2. Why did you major in philosophy?
3. Why Kayne Anderson?
4. Why growth equity?
5. What did you do at your previous position that helps with this position?
6. If you were speaking to a CEO that was very rude on the phone, how would you deal with him?
7. How would you invest $10MM?
8. What do you like about your current role/what don't you like?
Interview Questions
6. If you were speaking to a CEO that was very rude on the phone, how would you deal with him?

This was unexpected, but not difficult for me because I've called CEOs, and fundraised before.

Interview
I had worked for a portfolio company the summer before and met the PE firm Board member and asked about an intern the following summer. They normally don't hire interns but since I knew one of the portfolio companies well they agreed to give it a try. It was a short, but good experience.
Interview Questions
Per the above, I had worked for one of the portfolio companies, so the questions were primarily about that company, such as, what were they doing right? What did you learn while working there? Also some basic accounting and finance questions.

Background Check
Interview
btw, my interview was in 2007 so but earliest i could select was jan 2008.
Headhunter found my profile on linkedin & arranged phone interview with PM. After 1-2 phone interviews they flew me out for a full day of in-person interviews with all the PMs and the head trader. It was pretty easy - they asked me to describe in detail investment ideas I had at previous HF I worked at & had follow up questions. The rest of it was fit & behavioral - just chat about, e.g., general market thoughts, political stuff, etc. After that, was reference check & background check. Then offer. It was slightly below market comps which they justified by their desirable location. I tried to ask for more but they wouldn't budge & I ended up accepting.
Interview Questions
What do you think about US' health care policy?
I said I wasn't a health care expert, but that in general supported free market solutions and talked a bit about how the US has had a distorted market for decades.
Do you think the present bull market run can continue?
At the time the market was at it's 2007 high. I didn't have a strong opinion either way - keep riding it up but be cautious & prepare to run for the exits. I talked about how all good things must eventually come to an end, it had been 4 years since the last bear market & recession, so the timing wouldn't be that unusual for another one now. And, that there were already some liquidity cracks showing in mortgage land.
Describe in detail your most recent successful investments & what was the unique edge?
don't want to give it away b/c want to stay anonymous.
