Interview
The interview process began with a HackerRank assessment that was notably challenging and required strong problem-solving skills. This was followed by a 30-minute HR interview focused on general behavioral questions and assessing overall fit.

Candidates who progressed were shortlisted for what appeared to be the final round. In this stage, I was asked to present one of my projects to two engineers. The discussion went in depth, covering the system architecture, design decisions, underlying mechanisms, and broader software engineering considerations related to the project. The conversation was detailed and technical, with a strong emphasis on understanding both high-level structure and low-level implementation choices.
Interview Questions
In the technical round, some of the more challenging questions were the deep dives into implementation details. They asked very specific follow-ups about my design choices, like how I handled concurrency and what trade-offs I considered. There were also some unexpected questions around threads and low-level behavior that required more than just a high-level understanding of my project.

The HR round was mostly standard, nothing particularly unexpected beyond the usual “why quant” and “why finance” type questions.

Interview
I had to go through three screenings. It was really tedious, but did not make it to HR or meet any live person.
Interview Questions
The most difficult was waiting between each assessment and figuring out if you passed the previous one. The questions were standard probability questions from the greenbook, but the arithmetic was a lot harder.

Firstly did numerous maths test that consisted generally of probability theory and statistics, usual brain teasers etc, then did a coding test, followed by one more maths test, then a video interview recoded which asked 1 general question and two technical maths questions, then an in person interview with one of the QRs there. super technical interview process, but generally really well ran
Interview Questions
Lots of number theory asked which is wasn't too prepped for, so id say that.

Interview
After applying, I was invited to the next stage, which was and OA with 18 probability questions in 30 minutes, which had negative marking for incorrect answers. Then I moved on to the next phase, which included 2 6-minute tests, which were comprised of mental maths and sequences. Then I was invited to the next stage, which was a series of 5 cognitive games on the Arctic Shores platform. After that I had an on-demand interview which had the questions "What are you passionate about outside your academic life?" and "If today is Monday, what day will it be in 80 days?" Then I was invited to the first round interview, which lasted 15 minutes. It included mental maths percentage questions, a question on confidence intervals and to compare 10^40 to 40!, and then a combinatorial problem about extracting different coloured cubes randomly and the probabilities for the towers they would make. I did not advance to the final in-person interviews.
Interview Questions
Which one is larger 10^40 or 40!?
Please make me a 95% confidence interval for the factorials between which 10^40 is.

Interview
The interview process at Maven Securities was structured, analytical, and relatively fast-paced. After submitting my online application, the first step was an online quantitative assessment. It included short probability questions, mental math, numerical patterns, and a few brainteasers related to expectation, conditioning, and logical inference. The focus was on speed and accuracy rather than prior finance knowledge.
Interview Questions
You observe a symmetric random walk starting at zero. You are allowed to stop at any time, and your payoff when you stop is the position of the walk minus a cost that accumulates with each step. What stopping strategy maximizes your expected payoff?
You quote both a bid and an ask on a product whose fair value jumps up or down randomly every second. Given that informed traders are more likely to hit your quotes when the fair value moves against you, how do you design a quoting strategy to avoid being picked off
You observe a sequence of coin flips, but you do not know whether the coin is fair or biased. You have a small prior belief that it may be biased. After seeing several flips that look suspicious, how would you decide whether the coin is likely biased?
