Overall Ranking (89%)
The Overall Ranking is a score from 1 star (very bad) to 5 stars (excellent) generated based on the Company Reviews of current and former employees at this company, taking everything into account.
The number you see in the middle of the donut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.
The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few reviews). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Regional Merchant Bank Heritage
The McCarthy organization was founded in 1986 when Michael McCarthy identified the need for a financial services firm focused on lower middle market companies located in the Central Plains region. For many years, the organization actively counseled founders, families, and management teams of privately held companies seeking strategic input or transaction related advisory services. In addition, the organization began investing, on a transactional basis, in private companies on behalf of numerous high net worth families.
Transition to a Dedicated Private Equity Fund
In 1999, the organization began a transition to a dedicated private equity firm, raising its first fund with a large institutional partner. The fund had a broad investment mandate that focused on both public and private companies located throughout the Midwest. McCarthy Capital has subsequently raised three additional funds and evolved the investment philosophy to an exclusive focus on established, privately held companies within the lower middle market that are owned and operated by exceptional management teams.
Expansion of the Firm
To manage its continued growth, Dana Bradford assumed management of McCarthy Capital in 2006 and the Firm began to expand the investment team, adding several senior investment professionals with whom it had a long-standing relationship. Today, every investment professional has an ownership interest in the Firm and, through that ownership, an investment in its funds as a limited partner.
