The number you see in the middle of the doughnut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few interview insights). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview

Initial screen was a call with member of investment team. Next interview was an in-person interview with all members of the investment team. Relatively straightforward process - nothing atypical.

Interview Questions

Nothing in particular was very difficult. Most of the discussion revolved around my prior deal experience (i.e. taking a deeper dive into the deals I had worked on to better understand my investment mindset/process). I was asked what I thought about the valuation, capital structure, the underlying company, potential exit opportunities and additional ways to create/extract value. Other questions were fit based and served as a test to see how I would work with the team. All-in-all there was nothing hard.

Interview

Contacted by recruiter and interviewd with both VPs and Associates during a 3 hr process. Getting the interview setup and coordinating schedules went well. Everyone was nice and professional. They were in no need to fill a position, but just interviewing local candidates to get a sense of the local talent. Firm typically hires straight out of B school and focuses on folks with a connection to NE. Overall was a fine experience, but they definately didn't seem like they had any intention of hiring anyone.

Interview

The head of the firm is a graduate of my school so he recruits one intern every year to begin in the spring and work for nine months. The internship is to assist in any research, modeling, and analysis their associates/analysts require of you. I have been told by a family friend of the president that the internship is kind of a bitch job though and you don't actually get too many learning opportunities.

The interview process is one phone interview and then one interview in their office that is just one on one. Neither were particularly difficult. Compensation I believe is about $10-12 an hour. It should be noted that they don't have much of a history of hiring their interns after graduation.

Interview Questions

How do you manage to handle multiple projects at once? What are some times when you have struggled to finish a project and how did you get through it? I believe their goal here was to see if you have any experience with long periods of multitasking. This internship will require a lot of different demands from multiple managers so they want to make sure you have experience juggling a lot of different projects.
What is one company you admire and why? This question is intended to get a judgement on your personality and what you look for in a successful company. Naming a company for ethical reasons is not a bad idea but make sure that it is also successful with profit-creating.
