Interview with HR, then two with managers and one with associate. Pretty general behavioral questions. Walk through your resume, tell me a time when you dealt with a negative coworker.
Interview Questions
The most difficult question was "Tell me a time when you took a risk and it didn't work out." I felt it was difficult due to the surprise element. Often times you hear about a question regarding a risk that ended up working in your favor, but this was different. I ended up using an example from an organization I'm committed to, and it was well, but definitely one of those interview questions that prompted me to ask for a bit more time to think about it. Overall, the questions were pretty set and I liked that.

Met the lead recruiter at a career fair on campus. I was extended an interview on the next day. I was contacted several hours after the interview and received an office visit interview in two weeks. I was contacted on the way back from the office interview with an offer. By far the fastest moving hiring process I had been a part of. Don't think this is typical.
Interview Questions
Mostly conversational, and trying to see if you fit the culture.

I was referred through a friend working in their risk advisory practice. Applied through my college's career website, and was contacted for an interview a few weeks later. The interview was very comfortable, but I also had met my interviewer before at recruiting events. I heard back about a week later that I had received an offer and accepted it. Overall a very good process.

The interview process for Mcgladrey was pretty laid back. I was off cycle compared to most hires because of my situation so i interviewed with the students who were looking for FT in the coming fall. I was looking to start right away but this was my best opportunity to get an interview, seeing they were already interviewing. I had two interviews, both with senior people, we then went to a relaxed lunch with four associates on the team and some other candidates. Questions were mostly fit questions and nothing technical other than an understanding of the industry.
Interview Questions
Why McGladrey over a Big Four firm? A. Middle Market competitor, better atmosphere and culture. Focus on their segment and try to dominate the middle market instead of competing to be a big four firm.
Run me through your resume, highlighting the things that you think would be most beneficial to this job.

Background Check
Interview
There were two interviews total. I first had a phone interview with HR. General questions were asked: my experience, education and the type of position I wanted. I thought I could have better expressed my enthusiasm and company knowledge, so I wrote a compelling thank you letter. It included why I liked McGladrey and specific past experiences that match the tasks of the position. This got me to the second interview round where I meet everyone on the team. I interviewed with four people individually. They seem to focus on personality along with past experience. It is important to have everyone like you.
Interview Questions
Explain a situation where you did not agree with your team or manager and how you resolved the situation.
What data management experience do you have? Have you ever worked on project where you had to analyze and manage large amounts of data.

McGladrey invited their top 20 candidates into the office for interviews. Half of us were interviewing for risk analyst positions and half of us were interviewing for business valuation analyst positions. We all sat in a room and they started the day off with a presentation about the company delivered by one of the firm's principals. Over the next two hours, there were four 30 minute slots and each person would have two thirty minutes interviews that were 1 on 1. When you weren't interviewing you were sitting in the main room with the other people who weren't interviewing and you had the opportunity to ask questions of two first year analysts.
Interview Questions
Top three weaknesses? You need to frame these as weaknesses that your working on which could turn into strengths. My three were being too detail oriented (taking too long), having trouble saying no to additional tasks, and have trouble asking questions.
Why you want to work for McGladrey versus working for one of the Big 4? McGladrey is middle market which means they work with smaller companies versus working with huge corporations. I said that I appreciated the fact that we are working with entrepreneurs who have built their medium sized businesses versus dealing with huge corporations.

Very straight forward phone interview. Tell me about yourself. Walk through resume, etc. Told about the position and had a chance to ask a few questions.
Interview Questions
I wouldn't qualify any of the questions as particularly difficult. The questions were focused on background, interest in job, and organizational fit.

They did an on campus interview. One person went through my resume essentially line by line. The other person just talked to me, but seem disinterested in the process. As I look back, it was probably part of the test. I should have been more outgoing with him.
