Please describe the interview / hiring process.
This was through on campus recruiting, first round was supposed to be in person but because of weather complications it was moved to a phone interview with an HR representative. They asked all the standard behavioral questions you would expect of a first round interview, why investment banking, why Mizuho, what do you know about Mizuho, tell me about a time you lead a team, tell me about a time you disagreed with your boss and how did you resolve it, what is your most and least favorite class, tell me about some analytical work that you've done recently. do you have any modeling experience, what groups in Mizuho are you interested in? After that I was invited to interview in their office for a couple 2 on1 and 3 on 1 interviews. These were pretty standard and covered all the investment banking questions that you might expect, walk me through from revenue to free cash flow, walk me through a DCF, what are the three main valuation methodologies, how are the financial statements linked, what is important to look at from a credit perspective, what are some metrics that you might use to evaluate a companies creditworthiness, what is an LBO? DCM is one of Mizuho's stronger suits and questions did start to feel tailored to this a bit. Also why Mizuho, and what do you know about Mizuho, why here as apposed to somewhere else? They seemed to also be looking for a cultural fit and to see that you really wanted to be at Mizuho and at this group.
