Skills Test
Interview
Reached out to an analyst and pitched a cybersecurity stock to them, they were impressed and asked if I was interested in interning there for the summer, I said yes and they put me in the process. Process was skills check & superday. Skills check consisted of filling out a financial model template they sent you and justifying your assumptions and valuation in a write up as well as a PowerPoint slide on a deal. I heard back a few weeks later for the superday which consisted of 3 back to back interviews with analysts and associates. Not too technical, mostly gauging interest about cybersecurity and IB. Heard back week after about the offer.
Interview Questions
* What are some key trends in the cybersecurity space right now? Where do you think the industry will go in the future?

* Give me three reasons why a company would want to sell itself?

* Why do you want to work here if you are interviewing at larger places

* What are the challenges with each of the three main valuation methods?

* What are the options available to a company that's sitting on a lot of excess cash on its balance sheet?

* What's a company you are interested in (stock pitch)

Interview
I applied online and fortunately, a friend who was working there flagged my app. They usually have their summer analysts screen resumes apparently. Anyway, after that, I had a first-round phone screen. They sent me some Excel/PowerPoint work to finish. Went into the office for a brief chat and got the offer.
Interview Questions
It was my first time doing a skills test, so that threw me off a bit. But the phone screen was fairly straight forward. Resume-based and maybe a few basic finance technicals. They asked some stuff about cybersecurity but was generally prepared for that, so it worked out okay. In general, the key is showing interest and acing the Excel/ PowerPoint work they send you. Then you should be good to go. I suggest looking over the materials that they post on their website monthly because you can learn a lot about cyber and the firm from those.

Interview
I emailed a senior member of the team and then got an email back a week later from an associate. The process consisted of a phone interview, a skills test, and then a superday.
Interview Questions
1. Walk me through a DCF
2. what's a cybersecurity trend or company you have been following or are interested in.
3. The skills test consisted of a 3-statement model on excel and then a powerpoint transaction profile based off of a transaction that they give. A lot of what the firm does is marketing materials for newsletters so they want to make sure your powerpoint skills are on par with. what they are looking for. They also asked you to value a company based off of a list of public companies that they gave.

Interview
I applied online, didn't hear back, emailed a member of the team directly (highly recommend) to get a first round. Passed, got a skills test for excel and PPT, then came in for superday.
Interview Questions
Why Sell-Side M&A specifically? The associate really dove deep into this question and my first answer wasn't really enough so it sort of flowed into a conversation and eventually I said the right things to make him happy. What tech companies are you interested in? we talked about different tech companies for a while, they were very impressed with how i specifically stated line items and was up to date on the market (a company i talked about had made an acquisition that day) Walk us through a DCF?

Phone Interview
Interview
The interview consisted of a first round phone call. The first round consisted of questions about your background, along with your interest in banking. There were a couple high level technicals, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Be prepared to talk about everything on your resume in great detail, even your interests.

I didn't move onto the next round, but I heard it consisted of another phone interview with a case study completed afterwards. Then, you would have an in person superday in which you presented the case study and had typical interviews.
Interview Questions
One of the questions asked was that if you were to analyze a company by only looking at its financial statements, walk me through what you would look out for and what some key metrics/ratios are to calculate. This was more of an open ended question to test financial competence.
Another thing to be capable of answering is explaining your interest in cyber security or a trend in the space. If you aren't able to do that, you probably won't get past the first round.
Finally, basic technicals such as "Walk me through a DCF" came up.

Interview
The hiring process: Reached out through email to associate level employee. Spoke over phone. Communicated with Vice President over email. Interview with VP over phone. Was told next step would be a conference call with MD.
Interview Questions
Most if not all the questions were personality type questions. There were also questions about my general experience and background. They asked if I had any questions about the firm, what interested me in their firm specifically. I believe they asked how I had heard about them. I was not asked any technical questions which was a little disappointing at the time, because I had studied quite a lot in preparation. They also asked about my living situation if I were to move across country. I had a lot off opportunities to ask questions about the firm and its summer program.
