General Interview Information
Interview Details
The interview itself was pretty brutal. Four back to backs. Associate, VP, ED, ED respectively.
First was designated the technical interviewer, asked me abstract questions about growth of particular tech companies and why one company would pay more for a target than another. Also brought up synergies, I spoke about Aswaths (NYU professor) take on synergies and he seemed to agree with me on my take regarding synergies as well. The interviewer himself didnt seem very engaged and was on his phone a bit.
VP was fantastic, very authentic, asked mostly behaviorals and about a recent deal. This led to discussing another deal his friend had worked on and we really seemed to hit it off.
Last two were brutal, didn't seem to want to talk to me, had never heard of my school (non-target) and butchered the name of it. Tried to come across as enthusiastic and maintain my energy the whole time. Last question was why he should hire me over other people they were interviewing(I was the only non target with no exploding offer). Last guy DRILLED me on my resume and asked me to essentially recite everything on it to him and discuss each point in detail. Also asked me to tell him something impressive about me that was not on my resume.
Oh, I forgot, had a 20 min phone interview. 5 minutes of introductions 15 minutes of technicals.
