Investment Banking Summer Analyst

The process started with an invitation to a summer analyst workshop in San Francisco. This was very technical and we were asked to negotiate a cross-border M&A deal. Prospective summer analysts were split into groups of 3/4 acting as sell/buy side advisors for the acquisition. Bankers walked around and took notes during the festivities.

After the earlier event, we received first round interview invites, in which I had two 1-1 phone calls with junior analysts/associates. Heavily technical, some brainteasers and basic fit questions.

Next was a second round interview, also heavily technical. Got asked a strange hybrid of technical/brainteaser esque questions.

Then had superday where I met with two VPs and EDs. Case style business understanding questions and more technical questions along with deeper fit questions.
