Morgan Stanley IBD Analyst

Interviewed for Morgan Stanley IBD analyst position for the analyst class of 2016 in London. Process consisted of a phone interview, an in-office interview with a VP and an MD, and finally an assessment centre.

Phone interview asked standard behavioral questions (why banking, why MS), general questions about the market, and general questions about valuation (what are the different ways to value companies, how do you value a conglomerate, etc). Second round interview was similar, with more senior people. Was asked to describe a deal that MS worked on.

Assessment centre consisted of a math test, a case study, a group case study, a technical interview and a behavioral interview with an MD. Case study asked to select a target from a few companies to recommend to acquire. Was given 15 minutes to prepare, then present to an interviewer who then asked follow up questions (including calculating whether the deal would be accretive or dilutive with certain assumptions given on the spot). Group case also asked to choose a company to recommend, but the focus was on intergroup dynamics.
