Please describe the interview / hiring process.
First attended an event hosted by the bank where I asked for contact details to one of the MDs. I sent a follow-up e-mail to the MD thanking him for this time and asked him to grab a coffee and meet me for 30minutes so I could ask more questions on how he became a successfull MD. I did some digging on the MD to see if we had any common interests and general information about his background which I used to lead the informal interview. He then asked general questions about me and why I want to work in banking, and asked me to pitch a stock. After the meeting he asked me to send in my application online and he would have a chat with HR.

I received confirmation of first round interview late december and had it in January. I used google to find some information on common competency questions such as when I have performed well in a team, when I have been a leader and when I have done a misstake and what I have learned about it, and wrote down an answer. When the interview took place I could just use my prepared answers, important not to read straight off since the interviewer will notice this! Then at the end I asked how she though it was different working at MS compared to previous bank, which she was happy to respond to.

A week later I received invite to final round interview, two telephone interviews which had the exakt same layout and questions as the first interview. Overall I had one interview from Analyst in GCM, one Analyst in M&A and one VP in equity trading.

The VP in equity trading also asked a few questions about successfull trades, less successful trades and how I approach a trade. I was honest, and put wieght on what I had learned from my less successful trade.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised, both the VP and the first interviewer were extremely nice and calming, helping me through the interview. The analyst in M&A however, was just reading questions of a paper and then saying"ok" when you were finished with your response.
