Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Summer analyst role. Applied online. Process started with a hirevue asking basic questions such as interest in MS, interest in IB role and a market question – view NTM performance of SP500 and why. Moved onto super day consisting of 3 rounds. First round was focused on standard behaviorals and resume walkthrough. Second round was technicals, specifically relating to prior experiences and other valuation methods. Third round was market knowledge (tell me about a deal you have been following). Would advise candidates to study the M&I guide and have good understanding of accounting. Be able to answer the questions and also be ready for follow-ups. Having a good conceptual understanding rather than just memorizing the questions and answers was very helpful. When preparing try to anticipate follow-up questions and really push yourself to develop a conceptual understanding. Would also advise to practice walking through a DCF and financial statements to really understand how everything ties together. For the deal walkthrough make sure to give your own opinion (is it a good deal, will it get past regulatory approval process etc.)
