Fixed Income & Structured Products Sales

The whole interview process lasted 1 month, during may 2023.

1) Phone call by the current trainee
During the call, you are asked why apply, the current rate of the Bund and OAT 10Y.
He also asked me how to create a function in VBA and why the fixed income desk.

2) Interview the fixed income team followed by another one of the interest rates solutions team.
It lasted 1h30.
You are welcomed by the trainee and you directly go to a meeting room.
There, 2 members of the fixed income teams welcomed me.
The interview consisted of presenting myself, why I decided to work in finance and why more specifically the fixed income class.
Then I was asked to:
- define a covered bond
- define a convertible bond
- define the brent, what does it represent compared to the WTI and give its price
- give the value of the CAC40
- give the last rates policy of the BCE and explain what is a Central Bank
- explain what is the inflation and how do you fight it

The second part was with the structured products team.
It was much quicker than the first part as they had an emergency to deal with during the interview.
Nevertheless I was asked to :
- present myself a second time
- give exemple of structured products.
I gave the note callable and the phoenix but I didn't find that much information online. I used investopedia and fincyclopedia.
Next they asked me some 'quick thinking' questions like, 49+51= ?, how much car in the USA, how many people go skiing in France each year.

After that, the trainee showed me the desk and prensented me the rest of the sales.

3) The trainee contacted me by phone to tell me the good news :)
