Finance Summer Analyst

My initial contact with the firm was through OCR, and overall I would say it was very pleasant. About a week after applying through an on campus application, I was contacted by HR to schedule an on campus interview. It was a 30 minute 1-on-1 interview with very little technical questions. The interviewer was more concerned with fit and my overall knowledge of finance/economics (Being an avid reader of the WSJ is a plus). Approximately several days after my initial on-campus interview I received a superday invitation at their main office in Manhattan. The superday consisted of 3, 1-on-1 interviews, which for the most part were pretty straight forward, I was asked several technicals, mostly intro finance concepts (bond valuation, PV, FV, WACC). A week later I received a call with an offer.

Overall, from what I experienced, the culture at Nomura was phenomenal. Everyone that I interviewed with was very open and friendly. They were more concerned with getting to know me as a person, rather than grilling me on my academic background and intelligence. From what the MD's told me, Nomura is the type of place where the upper management was very involved (in a good way). It is not uncommon to see the CFO roll up his sleeves and work side by side with analysts on bigger assignments.
