Interview Details

What did the interview consist of?
Phone Interview
IQ / Intelligence Test
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Starts off with an online 8-minute mental math test - simple arithmetic problems that you can do in your head but you can only take it once. Sounds more scary than it actually is. If you get a high enough score, then you will advance to the next recruiting step.

Behavioral phone interview - 30 minutes or so - Why Optiver? Why trader? Resume talk. Describe yourself in 3 words... etc. Pretty basic stuff - they told me during the call that I would be making it to the next round so I'm assuming that's how they do it. If you don't hear about the next round towards the end of the call, you're not going to make it.

Technical phone interview - 30 minutes or so - this interview is much more specific to the role you will be hired for. I had an actual trader call me. We started off with the basics, got to know one another and then kicked off the interview. First was basic math questions. Test for speed and accuracy. Which of the following numbers are prime? How many squares between 2000 and 3000? How many cubes between 1000 and 5000?.. etc. Then there were specific trader questions: how do you make a market? Make me a market for [insert anything here]... then follow-up questions based on how you answer these two. I didn't hear anything about the next step during this call so this was the end of the line for me.
