Interview Experience (61%)

The Interview Experience is a score from 1 star (very negative) to 5 stars (very positive) generated based on the Interview Insights at this company.

The number you see in the middle of the doughnut pie chart is the simple average of these scores. If you hover over the various sections of the donut, you will see the % breakdown of each score given.

The percentile score in the title is calculated across the entire Company Database and uses an adjusted score based on Bayesian Estimates (to account for companies that have few interview insights). Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

Interview
My experience was not a normal process for Peter's & Co. I skipped some of the initial stages as I was referred by a top professor at my school towards the end of the recruitment process.

First, I had an in person interview with 2 directors. The interview was your typical IB interview - Tell us your story. Why IB? Why this firm? And of course, some technicals. Technicals were on the easier side of the scale. Directors were quite aggressive and didn't hesitate to ask very personal questions, but I didn't mind this.

After the first interview, I was asked to complete a report and was given 48 hours to do so (over the weekend). Report consisted of quantitative/qualitative analysis of a public company, ending with some type of investment recommendation.

After that I was invited for a second, "super day", style interview. It started with a similar interview to my first one (with the same 2 directors, and 1 additional one that wasn't able to make the first one). This was followed by 3 more 30 minute interviews with other members of the IB team (I believe the groups were organized into VP's, Associates and then Analysts). Style of interview gradually became less formal as you moved down the ladder. Analysts & Associates were obviously more concerned with what kind of person you would be like to hangout with for hours and what your work ethic is like.
Interview Questions
The most surprising part of the interview for me was when the directors began to go through my transcript, course by course, and asking me why I got certain marks in certain courses. Because the firm had strong roots in the city its located in, and the school I attended was the main university in that city, the directors knew a lot about each class (even professors, assignments, etc). I had one semester where I performed very poorly compared to the rest of my transcript which was due to some personal issues at the time. The directors dug very deep into this - although I was not very flustered, I think the way they went about it would have made most people uncomfortable.
