Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I was encouraged by an economics professor to apply for this position, so I read up on the company and the roles and responsibilities associated with the position. I applied in early September and heard back about an interview in early November. The interview lasted approximately an hour, with standard behavior and situational interview questions. Questions focused on teamwork, taking calculated risks, classroom experience, use of analytical skills, and interest in the energy sector/Phillips 66. I received my internship offer a few hours later and was given 3 weeks to accept or decline. The decision had to be made several months before other consulting and banks began recruiting on campus. A few months before the internship start date, I was required to fill in several pieces of HR paperwork and get a hair test for drugs. The interviewer was very pleasant to speak with, very friendly and laid back. I found the office environment to reflect this experience as well. Upper management was very willing to speak with interns about industry outlook, career advice, and personal stories. Very good work-life balance for interns and generous compensation.
