Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied to PNC Financial Service (“PNC”)’s Corporate Banking Analyst program. Because PNC is based out of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh (“PITT”) is heavily recruited. I applied to the program through PITT’s general career website. It was the standard resume and cover letter format for the application. Within a week I found out I was selected for the first round interviews. The first round interviews are a one on one with a senior member of PNC’s Corporate Banking Group. If the member likes you and wants you to move on you will be placed in one of three “funnels” to interview in for the second round which is also the super day: (1) Capital Markets, (2) Corporate Banking, (3) Treasury Management. I was selected for the Corporate Banking bucket.

The night before the super day you are “wined and dined” at some restaurant at your super day location. Mine was in Pittsburgh and we did it at McCormick and Schmick’s (not the best spot but then again there isn’t a lot to choose from in Pittsburgh). PNC does super days in all of its footprint’s major cities including: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago to name a few. The super day is 5 back to back 30 minute interviews with interviewers from all over the bank. Overall, fairly easy process with limited technical questions. In fact, it was kind of scary due to the lack of technical questions.

Anyway, I got an offer for a general analyst position in Pittsburgh which is where I am from so it was desirable for me. Two years later I have moved with the Company into an Associate role in the Chicago market. I had to interview (3 rounds) internally to get that position.
