Typical hirevue first step. Pretty general behavior questions and some real estate-specific ones. Difficult part was that there was only 1 attempt at each question, no redos. One question was "What type of real estate would you invest in now?"

Phone Interview

Interview

Applied through the school job board, received a phone interview invite. Interviewed with a junior to mid actuarial analyst in the same team. Got a verbal offer on the phone, was asked to reply that day, then an offer email.

Interview Questions

1. How do you calculate the duration of financial securities? How do you interpret durations? (Hint: two methods, the one that doesn't consider the discount rate and the Macaulay duration)
2. How will you allocate assets for an insurance company? (Hint: consider matching the asset duration to the life of liabilities (which are usually long and demand proper settlement; consider the risk and return profile of different types of assets, e.g., equities are high-risk high-return, and bonds are the opposite, and then consider the requirement of the insurance company).

Interview

Applied through the company's career website and was reached out to by HR within a week. The first 3 person 1 on 1 interview was scheduled within 1 week of contact with roughly a 2 week break in between the second 3 person 1 on 1 interview. Once the verbal offer was extended, the background and drug test took roughly 1 month to finalize. The offer is contingent on passing both the drug test and background check

Interview Questions

The questions were fairly basic for both interviews. The managers and directors wanted to get a feel for how an individual would perform under pressure. Why I am looking to leave my current position and why I chose Prudential and Financial Services as an industry choice (I came from a non-Financial Services industry). What motivates me and how I perform working individually and within a team of a group of people. What my strength and weaknesses are and how I would improve on them. How I feel about giving presentations and if I get nervous before them. How my background in schooling and work has lead me to a good fit for this position.

Interview

Online application through the university website. After 3 weeks, I received a phone call from my manager and conducted a phone interview 3 hours later.

Interview Questions

The interview lasted for 1 hour. It included self introduction, motivation, courses and past experiences. Then the interviewer introduced the team and the company. Afterwards, some technical questions like what are the four assumptions for insurances. Finally a behavioural question but it was very easy. The interviewer was very nice and the interview was conducted smoothly, without too much pressure. One unexpected question was the interviewer asked me to repeat part of his works, which was regarding to the correction of my previous answer.

Interview

Interviewed with Prudential Financial for an accounting associate opportunity. This group supported the prudential capital group (PCG). Plenty of pivot tables, using Oracle, and PAM, PAM is an accounting program used specifically for the PE debt loans PCG specializes in. Don't worry if you have no experience with PAM, they don't expect you too. There is training available PAM. PAM is a Citrix product.

Interview Questions

One on-campus interview, followed by two in-person interviews at their Newark location. I feel the most difficult part was they didn't explain what the capital group did very well. They called the loans "deals" over and over and not truly explaining that or the link their group had to the capital group.
One interviewer, who became my boss, was extremely easy mainly behavioral and zero technical questions. The second interviewer asked several questions over and over or would slightly re-word the question. It was really annoying. I am not sure if the interviewer was inexperienced or did this to frustrate you.
