The interview was fairly simple. There were several rounds. The initial round was more behavioral whereas the subsequent rounds were technical. The questions were straightforward. I was referred by someone in the M&A group - so a lot of deal pitch questions and macro questions. Merger math is fair game as well

First round was a Cisco Webex Meeting (same thing as Zoom) with an Analyst for roughly 30 minutes. Basic questions you would expect in the behaviorals and technicals section. Got super day invite that night. Superday consisted of three consecutive meetings on WebEx Meetings with senior bankers (MD, VP, MD). Very conversational with majority of questions relating to resume. Some technicals in interview with VP, but nothing more complex than the first round.

The interview was a 1-on-1 Zoom call set up on the day I received the email from RBC. It was 30 minutes long and consisted of about 5 behavioral questions and 10 technical questions. Multiple technicals were related to DCF, beta, and moving through the 3 financial statements.

Interview Questions

What is unlevered versus levered beta?
How do you move between unlevered and levered beta? (Looking for an equation)
How does a $100 write-down of debt affect the 3 financial statements?
