Investment Banking Summer Analyst

The process was more of judging your fit for RBC rather than being heavily technical based. There was first a brief phone screen since my school wasn't on the typical school list and I got in off of a VP referral. After that there were some 2-on-1 interviews by junior analysts who asked technical questions which were relatively simple (Walk me thru DCF, EV formula) along with the typical walk me through your resume questions. They will go line-by-line so be sure you can explain every single line on your resume. Also sound genuine and give off the vibe that you are genuinely interested in RBC as they will grill you on Why RBC? Additionally, the final round was more technicals and a quick vibe check from a higher-up. I felt that most of the junior analysts were nice but since it was my first interview, I didn't expect them to be completely silent. After every question they would just jot some notes and ask "Why" a lot. The work culture seemed to be a little more formalized than certain middle-market banks I had looked at. All in all, enjoyed the process as a first time interview, and if you're prepared you should be able to get through!
