What did the interview consist of?
Phone Interview
1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
First had a phone interview with HR, then a second round phone interview with an analyst. Final rounds are either in person or Skype.
What were the most difficult or unexpected interview questions asked?
What do you know about the markets/current events and what does that mean financially? A lot of behavioral questions essentially asking how you would work in a professional environment and in a team setting. Was not really asked any technical questions; however did bring a stock pitch and was asked about valuation methods. Also was asked about how I would think about investing, ideas about the financial markets. Brought up questions about their funds that are offered to clients, and the holdings in them.
How did you answer each of these questions (please be specific)?
I answered many of the behavioral questions essentially as any typical behavior questions would go. I tried to exhibit good qualities in regards to working in a professional environment and on a team, and backed my assertion with experiences listed on my resume. In regards to the valuation, I just cited what I knew and it was not pressed any further. Other questions such as how I would think about investing are pretty straightforward, and they really just want to hear about how you would think about them.
