Summer Analyst

I interviewed for a summer analyst position for after my junior year. They said they run the same process for full-time candidates. Process was: i saw a listing on CareerNet; submitted my resume and cover letter; spoke with an MD on the phone for 10 minutes; and invited in to meet with one MD and three analysts for a half-hour each. They asked me to send them a school paper to see my writing style. I didn't make it to the final round, which they said would be meeting the other MDs in the New York office. Sounds like full-time applicants also take a modeling test, although i couldn't tell if that was all the finalists or just some of them.

Questions were pretty straightforward. The MD seemed to focus mostly on why i chose my major, why investment banking, etc. The analysts asked me more technical questions. They were pretty cool about giving feedback about why i didn't make it to the final round. I plan to apply again in the fall for full-time.

Saw the SUNY comment below. The analysts I met with were from NYU Stern, Penn, and Tufts, but maybe that's just who they matched me with.
