Investment Banking Summer Analyst

I cold-called the company when I was looking for internship positions and sent my resume to someone at the firm. They called me back and scheduled an "informational interview" with a managing director. I ended up going to New York for the interview. The MD was foreign, likely from Eastern Europe. He didn't ask me any technical questions and there was nothing that stood out from what I remember of it. It only lasted about 15-20 minutes. The guy seemed nice but I don't think I connected with him; I was focusing more on trying to understand his accent as opposed to how I responded to his questions/my mannerisms.

At the end, he told me "we aren't sure if we are going to do an intern program this year, but get in touch with me in late March." He gave me his card; I sent a thank you e-mail but he never replied. I never got in touch with him again due to already having another offer accepted. I was pretty unhappy that they had me come to New York for this; it could have been easily done over the phone.
