Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

There are actually 2 interview rounds on the same day. For the first round, you will be interviewed by 2 of their current interns, and then you'll be interviewed by 2 analysts. The interview with the interns was pretty light-hearted where they asked basic interview questions and you can even ask them for what kinds of technical questions you'll be tested on later.

I feel that the analysts just want to make sure that you know your stuff, as long as you're being authentic and not trying to smoke through, it should be fine. You have to know your DCF and Multiples well.
Interview Questions
there we'rent any difficult or unexpected questions. You have to know your DCF inside out and not just say the basics. Try to show that you know more about Beta/Wacc/CAPM/CoC/EvEbitda multiples than the average person.

Showing an enthusiasm and genuine interest about the emerging markets will also be a plus. You should also have done your research on what industries make up TRG's portfolio companies. If you are active in any investment clubs in school, showcase what you've learnt beyond the basics.

Interview
I was made aware of the role via a friend who knew an incumbent business head. I sent my resume and heard back within about ten days.

An introductory phone call followed, on which I was invited to come in and interview with the senior partner in the region, the business head for the role I was applying for and a VP to whom I would be reporting.

The interview was a 1-on-1 with the partner immediately followed by a 2-on-1 with the business head and VP. Nothing particularly difficult from a technical perspective (I was going lateral) with predominantly fit questions. The whole process took about 90 minutes and everyone was very pleasant.

I received a call about two weeks later from the business head with an offer. There is no real HR department at the company, more of a singular HR head based out of the New York office, so most hiring is done directly with no real liaison with HR other than for background checks.
Interview Questions
Why do you want to move from a large bank to a small emerging markets firm?

Walk me through a transaction that you were working on which subsequently failed. How much of the blame would you attribute to yourself?

What was the demographic of your previous team?

Which three words would your previous group head use to describe you?

Would you rather be the best in a mediocre team or mediocre in the best team?

Give me an example of a direct confrontation or disagreement you had with your previous group head. Did you placate him or argue your point? Why?
