Phone Interview
Interview
I was emailed to set up a first round interview, which consisted of a phone interview even though I live close to the office. We spoke for half an hour, and then I never heard back.
Interview Questions
I was asked the basic banking technicals, such as walk me through a DCF, how the three financial statements link, etc. When I was asked to walk the interviewer through a DCF, I was asked more in-depth questions than I expected. She started asking me about how many years I would normally project my analysis out, what are the downsides to a DCF, and what is a good terminal value for the growth rate of a DCF. That last part was the toughest question I've encountered in a first round over-the-phone interview.

Interview
OCR but knew analyst at bank, sent resume to her, spoke with MD, difficult interview process with heavy focus on technicals, called back for superday with rest of team, small firm so fit is important as well, had 4-5 interviews in their office, mostly technical again, received offer shortly after
Interview Questions
- Had to walk through a retail LBO case, pretty difficult if you're not familiar with industry or LBOs
- Standard fit questions, why firm, why banking, why retail
- Asked how my other processes were going
- Lots of accounting and valuation questions, not from the guide though but variations of that which are rooted in the concepts of the guides
- Paper LBO with 5 tranches of debt
- Superday was a little more fit based and tried to get to know me but still had a ton of valuation technicals
- No basic questions from guide so don't waste your time memorizing that
