Interview
Was a pretty straightforward process. 1 30 minute on campus interview with 2 people. Then a superday with 5 30 minute interviews.
Interview Questions
Market sizing questions and brain teasers throughout. Logical but they want to see how you think and how you handle pressure. There was also a writing test but it was very straightforward. Other common technical questions relating to financial statements, valuation, coursework, and resume experience. Very big on culture. Overall not terrible. Everyone was very fair. Also they took candidates to dinner the night before the super day and that was great.

Interview
Got interview via referral of family friend. Set up phone call via email with MD. Interview was mostly about background (walk through resume), coursework, and finance/modeling experience. I was also asked whether I would suggest a M&A transaction for tech firm I worked for during the previous summer and why. MD was very straightforward about their selection process.
Interview Questions
1. Would you recommend Company XXX (previous company I worked for) to continue growing organically or to sell to a larger company?

2. What synergies would be created by selling Company XXX?

3. Do you have experience with modeling in Excel?

4. Why do you want to go into investment banking?

5. Are you aware of the hours that investment banking analysts put in per week and the culture of the industry?

6. Why do you want to join a middle market firm over a large one (specifically TM Capital)?

Interview
Reached out to CEO, VP reached out a day later to schedule a phone interview. No technical questions, just talk about experiences, what you did during the summer, what your marks are. Was not invited to the second round. All behavioral and no technicals whatsoever. The firm didn't really impress me, lower mid-market deals, and only 1 analyst with a bunch of MD's which means there is probably not a lot of deal flow or they are cheap on hiring, neither of which is a good sign. The backgrounds of the MD's are all from industry, not IB. The only good thing is that their office is located in Manhattan NY and cross-border acquisitions.
Interview Questions
Again there was no technical questions, so what you may get in the form of behavioural will depend on your background/resume. I had previous IB experience, so it was more oriented towards my deal experience and what I did. I think they are looking for someone who can do everything, be a jack of all trades etc, since they are a leaner team. But I could be wrong, prepare your resume and go in with a positive attitude is my best advice. They don't seem to care much about prestige of your school or other factors.

Interview Questions
No questions were too difficult. All interviews mainly consisted of behavioral questions. I was asked to walk through my resume and tell them about myself a bunch of times. I was asked about my SAT scores and also about books that I was currently reading. I was asked very few technical questions. The ones asked were basic accounting questions and a couple valuation things. One interviewer was harder than the rest and went into specific technical questions about my internship last summer such as the multiples of different industries that I worked with

Quick process. Had an initial phone call with a first year analyst and then came in for a super day to meet the more senior members.

Why the middle market? Walk me through a DCF? How do the three statements link? The questions were not totally unexpected but the setting made it difficult

Interview
Overall, the hiring process seemed fair. I applied online, and a VP reached out to me within a few days to set up a phone interview. I spoke briefly about my general interests (and why I wanted to pivot my career) and after about 10 minutes, set up a call with two other individuals. I visited the office, and had six or seven 1-1 or 2-1 interviews with just about everyone including the managing partner. Mostly questions about why banking, why this area, what skills from my current position were transferable, etc.
After this round of interviews, I was given a writing test. Apparently they have not had success with people with traditional finance / accounting backgrounds in terms of writing ability.
I was ultimately not offered the position and told the firm had chosen to go with someone first year out of school who they could mold, rather than someone with a few years of tangetially related experience.
Interview Questions
Why Investment banking? Why this geographic location? Why are choosing to pivot now, as opposed to applying out of college? What skills can you bring from your current position? Why did you chose the undergraduate school you did? What activities were you involved in during your undergrad years that would impact your work here?

Interview
My initial communication with TM occurred after emailing a the firm inquiring about summer internships. A fourth year associate emailed me back later this week and asked for my specific GPA, and SAT scores broken down. After I submitted both, he emailed back a week later and said he would do a first round "fit" call later that week. The first call went very well...story, interest, why IB, why TM, preferred industry, etc. It was a healthy mix of conversation as well as question and answer. The call might have lasted 15 minutes, and upon finishing up the analyst said he would have another analyst in the Boston office call me later the week after for a second round interview.

The second round interview was basic technical questions. Three ways to value a private company, walk me through a DCF, and some basic math problems. The rest of the interview was all "tell me about your story type questions" and that was about it.

A week later I went to the Atlanta office for a 3rd round, in person interview. All went well, and the team skyped the NY office so I could meet some of the higher MD's. The interview was very "fit" based, and not very technical. After the hour-long meeting, I left and felt like I did well.

Around three days later I received an email from the original associate I had talked to. They offered me a summer analyst role, with a very small stipend at the end of the summer (~1500) as well as a free metro card for the summer.

The culture of TM Atlanta and NY was very typical of a small firm. Strong bond between the >20 people at each office. Most of the analysts, associates, and VP's all were into local sporting events and all seemed to be well-rounded and bright. For the most part, all were from elite private schools along the East Coast, with a sprinkle of Ivy Leaguers. In no way was the feel elitist or even intimidating, but their was a clear fraternity like spirit amongst the firm.

Interview Questions
What are 3 ways to value a "private" company?

This question is just a nice way of re-phrasing "What are 3 ways to value a company?" I think it is supposed to trip candidates, but realistically you value private and public very similarly depending on the industry.
What is 40% of 200,000?

The answer here is obviously 80,000. The interviewer was just looking for you to think out loud and say "40 percent of 100,000 is 40,000, and double that is 80,000".

Interview
I initially contacted an alumni MD at the firm telling I am a sophomore at a target school majoring in Economics with a 3.96 GPA. I did not have any financial experience, and never even had a job at a financial services firm. I go to a target school but I am in the Arts and Science school, not the business school. I told him I was making a career transition and that I am really interested in the industry. He asked me to send him my resume through email. I heard back about a week later to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was with an analyst and did not go so well. There were questions about financial statements and why I never took an accounting class if I go to this target school. I told him that I was unfortunately do not have experience with this but am a quick learner. I explained the quantitative skills I gained through prior experiences. Any one interview make sure you are ready for the amount of technical questions even if they are simple for the majority of applicants, if you never had any experience look it up online. Another tip is to look up the school when you cold call, I feel MDs are more willing to help students from their institutions.
Interview Questions
How will this tax affect the financial statements.
