Sales and Trading Summer Analyst
General Interview Information
Interview Details
From the first employee, I felt UBS was quite easy going and he told me that the division between different teams are quite fluid, no rigid divides. People are very supportive, willing to help, etc. However, the Equity Sales&Trading employee I spoke to seemed quite busy and was somewhat impatient though we spoke during a time he proposed. The questions were a bit more technical than I expected. Market related questions like the economy, the current and future equity prospect, etc. He also asked about what kinds of equity derivatives I know. Thankfully I did know a few derivatives and I read the news so that part went quite smoothly. But then again, he did not give any feedback other than I see for all the answers I provided him so for all I know I could've said all the wrong things.
This was somewhat of a strange phone interview I had amongst all the BB phone interviews I've done so far, so I thought I should just put this out there.
The biggest takeaway for me through this phone interview was to be confident in yourself but never have high expectations. I was charmed by the first employee I spoke to so I was naive to think his colleagues would be as helpful and easygoing. I was thrown off when the second employee was so unenthusiastic and got nervous for no good reason.
The other thing is definitely keep your answers short (30 secs), if they want to know more they will ask you follow up questions. They will cut you off if you are blabing on.
