Interview Details

What did the interview consist of?
Phone Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied online through school's career services website. About a week after the deadline I received an email from an associate director who happened to be an alumni asking if I was available to do a phone interview either later that day at night, the following night, or Saturday morning. It was quite a quick turnaround but it seemed like it was just an initial phone screening. He asked me to walk him through my resume and as I developed my "why finance" story he would ask for specifics such as lessons learned and how would that help me work with UBS. I did my best to tailor my experiences to make it sound like I belong in a sales & trading environment. Looking back I think I did a good job of selling myself as an intern in general, but I think I could have done a better job of selling myself as a sales & trading intern specifically. It was a Friday night so I assume that he was just trying to get the interview over with so I felt a little rushed. Other than that he was very friendly and I could tell he was doing his best to keep things light and this was one of the less awkward phone interviews I've ever had.

The next steps in the interview process were two 30-minute on campus interviews and if I performed well in those then I would be sent to a super day up in New York for the final round of interviews.
