1 on 1 Interview

Interview
Great perception of work culture. Clear that full-time people were driven and interested in the work they were doing. Forgiving on technical aspect if you demonstrate genuine interest in software / technological direction their investments are going in and show your thinking clearly out loud. They appreciated intellectual curiosity - heavy emphasis on this - and expect little prior finance background. Technicals weren't too tough and involved some basic IB-like questions and I got a question about getting from revenue to levered free cash flow. Be well-prepared to answer the "why software" question.

Interview Questions
You really have to be excited about software. Know why you want to do software and what are some companies that you are really excited about. Having tech IB background will open doors for them to think that it is only fair to ask you about tech, but I think they can be more lenient with folks that are from generalist / non-tech IB backgrounds. The most difficult interview question was around explaining number of Software companies that I liked and they expected me to have great detail on them.

Interview
Applied online, took personality and IQ test. Had a first round/screening interview- very easy/basic, only lasted 15 minutes. Next week had a second round interview. Interviewer was super nice and we mostly just talked, only asked basic why pe, why vista, why software, finished with a few easy technicals. Superday was a week after 4 interviews plus retaking the IQ with a proctor. Personally felt that the superday was a very chill and easy day compared to most other firms. Most interviewers were very conversational and relaxed, only one really grilled me. I think a lot of importance in placed on the IQ and personality tests. Then with such easy interviews, beyond just answer correct and speaking confidently, I would assume that they are looking to see if your personality test alights with the things you are saying.
Interview Questions
Talking about a portfolio company was the one thing I really got drilled on. He would just fire questions at me about opinions I had on the company, like their weaknesses, what I would do to improve it, things like that. Otherwise, interviews were very easy, especially the technical one.
