Simply put, as a company gets more reviews, the confidence of a "true score" increases so it is pulled closer to its simple average and away from the average of the entire dataset.

I applied on Handshake and waited approximately 6 weeks before hearing back about a first-round video interview. The interview was largely behavioral, with a couple of technical questions discussing how changes in Beta affect WACC and thus your DCF valuation. Overall a good process.

Interview
Had a recruiter reach out to set up an initial phone screen with a VP. Interview lasted about 30 minutes.
Interview Questions
Overall the interview was very straight forward. Why IB? Walk me through your resume and a specific deal you worked on. Be sure to be able to know how you added value and what your role was on whatever deal you decided to talk about. Other than that there were no technical questions, most of the time spent was getting to know me through the mostly behavioral questions. The big takeaway for me is that they really want to hire an analyst who has strong deal experience, so it's important to talk about the exposure to the entire cycle of the deal process.

Interview
Set up a coffee chat with an analyst. A couple weeks later I had a phone screen with a partner and was invited in for an interview a couple weeks after that. The interview involved four 1 on 1 interviews and a comps case study to test attention to detail. Somewhere in between those interviews, 5 guys from the firm took me out to lunch. The whole thing was about 4 hours.
Interview Questions
What motivates you? Tell me about some things you would consider when valuing a software/internet company. One interviewer was very probing and would ask questions about my experiences that seemed out of context just to see how you think. What skills are valued most in buy side compared to sell side? Where do you see yourself in ten years? Tell me something about yourself that isn't on your resume. What was the biggest take away from your past internships? Tell me about a recent book or podcast that you have read or listened to. Technicals progressed from what are the three statements to how does in increase in depreciation affect the three statements. Nothing on DCF/LBO.

Interview Questions
1) What drives you in your personal and professional life?
2) Walk me thru a situation where you faced adversity and how did you handle it?
4) What books have you read lately?
5) Brainteaser: Four investment bankers need to cross a bridge at night to get to a meeting. They have only one flashlight and 17 minutes to get there. The bridge must be crossed with the flashlight and can only support two bankers at a time. The Analyst can cross in 1 minute, the Associate can cross in 2 minutes, the VP can cross in 5 minutes and the MD takes 10 minutes to cross. How can they all make it to the meeting in time?
