1 on 1 Interview
IQ / Intelligence Test

Interview
The interview process began with a 60-minute timed logic test. There were about 15-18 math/logic questions, relatively easy. They expect perfect scores to move on, and 60 minutes is ample time. Then I had 3 Zoom interviews: behavioral, technical, and with a senior team member. The behavioral questions were the basics: "Why banking?" and "What are your weaknesses?" A couple of others as well, but it was more conversational. The technicals were standard: walk me through a DCF, is equity or debt more expensive, can equity value be negative. The meeting with the senior member was behavioral and more conversational.

Tips: Prepare to explain further by the rule of 2s. If you answer a question, be ready to explain why twice. i.e. DCF -> WACC -> Assumptions for WACC.

If you don't know something, give it your best shot, but its ok to admit you don't. They want to see how you think, and don't expect you to know everything.

The culture is well-balanced, and the people are genuine, so I would try to be authentic.

Interview Questions
Is equity or debt more expensive? Why?
Walk me through a DCF? What is WACC?
What is CAPM used for and how do you calculate it?
Can equity value be negative?

Interview
Was contacted by HR and asked for availability. After that, was given a basic skills assessment asking simple math questions and logical reasoning. On the teams interview, it was 1-on-1 with HR for about 20 minutes. Went on to ask basic questions such as background and why you're interested in Wedbush as well as if you've faced a lot of rejection before. Next steps were to wait to hear back from hiring manager to see if they like your background enough to give another round of interview.
Interview Questions
None really stood out to be honest-- all of it was standard.

Skills Test
Interview
Started with a HR phone screen. The HR person was very nice. Then there was a virtual written test that consisted of answering open response questions and making edits to a flawed company profile (grammar, math, finance, etc). It was timed and I had to email it back 60 minutes after I received the email with directions. Then had Zoom calls with 2 MDs and an Associate. They calls were all behavioral in nature and the people were extremely nice. They pushed the deal flow of the bank. They then offered to fly me out to SF to meet the team in person.
Interview Questions
The written test was unexpected. I literally had to print out a sheet of paper and make edits with a pen. It was not difficult per se but very off the beaten path compared to other processes.

Interview
Initially was referred to the head of the office in my region. After networking expensively with the entire team, I was given a first-round interview where I was asked several extremely challenging questions, which led to an eventually super day.
Interview Questions
I had to walk through an LBO and also do a paper LBO. Was asked about a company I was following and had to answer several questions regarding their business and valuation. After this, I needed to talk about a company that this company should acquire and why. I ended up stumbling pretty bad with this and ended up not receiving an offer.

Interview
Friend of a friend was looking to fill a role, so I was able to skip the normal phone screen. In office coding and statistics questions with one person, with a follow up more about culture fit.
Interview Questions
Traverse graph without using recursion
Dynamic programming problems, knight on the chessboard, identifying islands
Implementing interface that would perform stat calculations over large data set without recomputation
Lot of very fundamental probability questions- I would have been better served by studying up on axiomatic definitions and working on my whiteboard algebra than by studying more esoteric algorithms. (In general I have found it is better to be bullet proof on the basics than to cover subjects that are likely not to come up.)

It was the very first interview I have ever done with investment company. They have asked me numerous questions within such short time of the phone interview. Orders of questions they have asked me may not be in exact orders.
Interview Questions
It depends on person.
For me, I was unexpected to be asked such details about the proficiency in Excel. Other than that, all other questions are expected. Yet, many people apply to numerous companies. I think it is very important to study what they do and be ready to answer all possible questions that you can think of.
Next question was you were the operations manager and are you aware of the position that you are applying to? you are applying to the entry level job. How can you use your experience to entry level Job
My answer was, I believe I will be working as a team at the Wedbush. I will not be able to take a leadership position right away. However, by managing people, I have learned how to properly harmonized with other people in team working environment. Also, I am ready to take a leadership role in the future.
Last question was, why did you start your own business and what was your goal?
This was the hardest question.
My answer was, I really only started a company because I was capable of and there was nobody to gave me a lesson. I just wanted to become a owner of something in the future. then they cut me off and ask what is your ultimate goal in the financial industry. My answer was, you might laugh but I want to take an executive role at the investment firm with in 20 years.
