Consulting during recession....

I'll be joining an MBB FT out of undergrad, and with the way the market is trending, I'm curious how consulting is impacted during recessions.

I'd assume certain firms may be slightly more shielded than others depending on industry focus (like government, restructuring vs. PE, FS, etc.), but was hoping to hear perspectives and how firms have dealt with this in the past.

In particular, do people anticipate start dates getting pushed out or other negative ramifications for incoming hires?

Edit: I don't know why this was tagged Germany, and I can't get rid of it, but I'm wondering about  US context
