Summer Internship Return Offer
Currently about to start a junior year internship at Big 4 strategy (Strategy&, Deloitte, EYP) where previously interns were essentially guaranteed return offers. Given the current economy, do you think there will be less return offers given out? I know most of these firms only fill 1/2-1/3 of their incoming full time class with interns so it makes sense to give out return offers to those who have interned (unless they were really bad)
In the same boat - I doubt it. I think the firms will taper back hiring because of the macro environment, but at the end of the day, they'll prefer hiring someone who's interned for three months with the company than a fresh FT hire. I think the impact will have much greater waves when it comes to re-recruiting.
It depends on firm by firm basis. To my knowledge, Deloitte has not been as heavily effected whereas EY has been hit particularly hard. I know EY has laid off a lot of their consulting associates but I am unsure if that pertains to their Parthenon arm or just EY. However, in any case I would not assume a return offer is guaranteed.
