Baume & Mercier Classima

What do you guys think of this? I'll be a junior SA this summer. I'm not super experienced with watches, but I've heard good things about Baume & Mercier. I like the Rolex Cellini and IWC Portofino, but I obviously wouldn't be able to drop that much as an intern. This is only $1,050

My other option would be to try to look for a used Portofino, but I don't want to break $1,500. There are a lot available in that range though.

Is there a reason you need/want a watch now? My general advice would be to avoid spending $1k on a watch at this point and to spend a bit more when you have more stability in your job. $1k is a fair bit of money at this point in your career and you probably won’t be very satisfied with the watch and will want to “upgrade” as soon as you get your first bonus.

If you are dead set on getting a watch, it is a fine brand and it is nice looking, so nothing wrong with that. I’ve just been collecting watches for a while and I know you’ll enjoy something like the IWC more (so this will mostly be money thrown away).
