Cutting non P&L generating juniors
I’m at a long only asset manager and moving over to a hedge fund - was wondering generally, how getting fired / cutting headcount discussions usually go at a single manager shop.
As a junior, I wouldn’t really generate any attributable P&L but some idea generation is involved. Would cuts mostly be based on ability to keep up with the work load and maintain quality despite being likely pulled in twenty directions? Would they hire someone else first and then cut or would they just fire on the spot or usually do funds give a 6 month notice to look for a new job?
