European Activist Fund - Interview

Question

Dear WSO community,

I come from a Private equity background, however, I have an interview at a rather big European activist Fund coming up, which I'm quite excited about. However, I am unsure how to prepare since there is not much information online, and no alumni from my uni have been there.

If you have any information or tips I would be very thankful!

Gotta be Cevian. I have been in the analyst process.

First round was 2 cases. One consulting-style, and the other one was valuation + macro/investment reasoning

I did not survive the first round, honestly, the interview was pretty hard. However, the people were super friendly and you could tell that these guys were smart. It won't be super technical but be ready to discuss a wide variety of things (with a particular focus on different M&A/spinoff/turnaround cases, valuation, asset classes, geopolitics/macro and interest rates etc.)

I had one spinoff case for a previous investment they did - cannot remember the details right now. Then I had a crazy question about investments in alternative assets (such as gold and metals). In hindsight, I should I have been sharper and practiced the case solving method (being able to explain things like a consultant) - remember, maybe 50% or more of the investment professionals are ex-consultants
