PM at MM: any advantage going through recruiter?
I am currently looking for a new PM position at an MM. I'm regularly getting approached by recruitment agencies that want to put me in touch with various MMs. I have contacts to people working in business development at some of the firms I target, so I could just approach them directly. For those where I don't have a contact, I could actually just approach a business development person on linkedin instead of having the recruiter introduce me. I'm aware that recruiters get paid tons of money if they place a PM. My question is if there is any benefit for me going through a recruiter. MMs are continuously looking for PMs, so it's not like they would tell me about roles I'm not aware of. Obviously they will tell me they will help me negotiate a better deal, but I'm not sure if that's actually the case.
