Sophomore year HF R1

Does anybody know what kinds of techs to expect for these? Have an R1 soon for next summer (co27). I can talk names for days (have a full sector coverage with models I’ve been updating + a few other small cap names I love). I’m ready for “pitch me a stock” or any other kinds of fundamental questions.

tbh I haven’t looked into IB techs in full yet because I’ve spent all summer modeling. I could prep 400Qs in a day or two, but I’m curious if you guys have gotten anything outside the guides, etc I should check out. Assuming for soph year, people don’t ask about pitches only?

I guess it depends on the fund, but I doubt anybody will expect a fully fleshed-out pitch from a college sophomore. I think it'll be more basic technical questions (if any) like the ones from 400Qs (or whatever is relevant to the fund's strategy), maybe some questions about why you want to pursue investing (and what you are interested in), some general pitches to see how you think, etc. At this point in your career, they want to know if you are curious and come across as smart and teachable.

They might, yes. Just don't appear like a smartass while talking about your coverage. The fund will have a much better sense of the coverage/whatever you sent to them, so just be honest and talk about why you are interested in the said sectors and companies. Don't dig yourself a hole by talking up your coverage/models, opening the door to lots of questions, and then being unable to talk about the nitty-gritty details if asked - that's the worst mistake you can make at your level.
