Corporate Finance or Investment Banking Title ? Confused
I know CorpFin and IB are relatively similar in the UK and are used interchangeably. For example, Houlihan Lokey and Deutsche Bank's CorpFin teams are M&A teams, but I need some clarification regarding an offer I received.
I have not landed an offer at a bigger shop, so I received an offer from a boutique M&A firm (LMM Deals) that calls itself a 'corporate finance advisory.' Typically, they handle 30-60 deals in the £10-£100m range and a couple of £100m+ deals a year.
They only handle lead advisory on deals.
Would putting 'Investment Banking Analyst - M&A' or 'M&A Analyst' be appropriate on my CV?
Regarding what I would be doing:
-
Conducting extensive research and gathered background information for businesses involved in transactions.
-
Prepping key documents - IMs, Pitches etc
-
Helping on models and doing a couple myself
-
Researching and producing on sector and industry wide deal activity
-
Compiling financial info on companies
-
Drafted various client communications, including proposals and engagement letters.
-
Alot of deal origination work - finding buyers and sellers.
Sorry if this seems obvious or if I come across as stupid - just want to be sure as my ultimate goal is to end up an EB/BB's and from what I have gathered this is a purely semantic difference and this is work an analyst in IB would be doing?
yes sir
Nice to hear man.
