It seems that my team/bank has a no interns on live deals policy, just wanted to check, is that an industry standard ? Seems super strange to me, at first thought it was due to no deal flow but just saw that some in other teams where deals are definitely booming weren’t getting anything either….

Varies by group but some definitely have this policy. Interns can be stupid sometimes, don't want them accidentally leaking a big deal (or working on something for 4-6 weeks and then leaving with knowledge of a huge pending deal)
You're not missing out on much. Interns who get put on live deals are basically there to take notes on calls and add people to WGLs. They often don't even get deal folder access
Our summer interns are fully part of the deal team (deal logged, etc.) but not allowed to communicate with client and anyway only here to do the shitty tasks
