The CB is an outlier. Look at the other FP Journe watches, they don’t do well in the secondary market (although not very different than other brands, but I would say on average worse than PP). Don’t get me wrong, I love FP Journe watches (huge fan of the Octa Quantième Perpétuel), but using the CB as an example is cherry picking.

I do agree that ALS watches are amazing. But if you want to get into really limited productions, one of my favorites is kari voutilainen, his watches aren’t for everyone, but I definitely enjoy them.

If you want a solid diver and are tired of Subs, AP isn't bad. If you want a complex movement that'll work for decades go with PP. Like many comments on this thread, there are excellent brands in AP's and PP's price range but for some people branding may matter. Between the two brands themselves, I would by the Nautilus over the RO but the ROO over the Aquanaut. For everything else, PP. AP is trying to diversity a bit and make classic looking watches but I predict they'll either be a flop or for die hard AP fans.

Agreed that it doens't apply to them but it would or may for watches that are in a lower price range. I think that FP Journe is a good buy for multiple reasons - if you want to potentially resell:
- they manufacture very few watches a year (less than 1k I believe)
- they are the only brand that can re-service watches and give a warranty for a used watch
- Growing name and unique designs (its big/small hands are just unique)

Yup! Resonance is my next buy. So fucking hot. New version is out in March too.

Baume and Mercier https://www.baume-et-mercier.com/gb/en/collections/classima-men/watch-c…Classima is a good basic, not their own movement until you go to the Baumatic range I believe. Some people hate on Frederique Constant but they make their in-house movements for very affordable prices and have watches with some cool stuff (moonphase available from ~2k https://frederiqueconstant.com/watch-finder/classics/heart-beat-moonpha…here yet prefer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Frederique-Constant-Moonphase-Automatic-FC-715…this one that is more expensive)
