Any point of networking 15 months in advance?

I recently got a job offer - which wasn't my top choice but I am grateful and plan on doing it for a year at least. That said, I am not sure whether I should keep the networking call (s) that I have scheduled for IB related roles (Snr Associate) or is it better to cancel it for now? My call is with a grad school alum, with whom I have a formal relationship, and he is based in a different geography (UK). I have only interacted with this alum a couple of times and our last was back in fall of 2017, and had barely kept in touch. He works in IB at a BB in London.

I am not looking to leave my current country for the next 14 months, and so if there is any opportunity that comes up at his BB (in London) even a few months from now, I won't be eager to participate. I had emailed this alum though a few backs as I was being broad in terms of my job career search (i.e. had resumed my job search after being out of the work force for nearly 3 quarters of the year thanks to unforeseen health problems) even though I was eager to remain in my current geography. But if life doesn't fuck up, I will want to hit him up a year from now and see if there are any openings in the UK that he can put me forward for. How should I take this relationship forward? It would be great to get some tips from some more mature people.
