Need advice - Lateralling from niche London BB group to NYC

Hi all,

I am a US citizen that is graduating this year and through sheer luck I managed to secure a ft offer from a niche group within a BB in London. I've always wanted to see what it's like to live in Europe, so I am excited about being in Europe. However, I would prefer to stay in NYC, my hometown, and to be in a corporate finance based origination role, but am blessed to have gotten an offer in this group in this environment and will definitely learn a lot.

If I go to the London office, will it be hard for me to come back to NYC? I should add that I am also in a securitization group, so my expertise will be more niche. If anyone can chime in on moving from a banking role in a niche group in London to a corporates role in NYC, that would be much appreciated!

I know some people will say that you should ask HR if you can move after two years, but I want to make the assumption for arguments sake that HR will say no you must stay in the securitization role in London forever. How likely will I be able to lateral from a securitization role in London, to a corporates role in NYC?
